Blast furnace ironmaking is a traditional ironmaking method based on coke energy. It cooperates with converter steelmaking and is the main method of producing 09CuPTiRE-B steel usage steel at present. This dominance of blast furnace ironmaking is not expected to change for quite a long time. The essence of blast furnace ironmaking is the reduction of iron. Besides, coke is used as fuel and reducing agent. At high temperatures, iron ore or iron-containing raw materials are reduced from an oxide or mineral state to liquid pig iron.

There are various weather resistant steel materials in the world. Their thickness ranges are distinct. For JIS G3125 weathering steel sheet, typical grades are SPA-H / SPA-C, the max. thickness is 16mm. For TBT 1979 weather resistant steel sheets, typical grades are 09CuPCrNi-A / 05CUPCRNI, the max. thickness is 20mm. For EN 10025-5 steel, typical grades are S355J0WP / S355J2WP / S355J0W /S355J2W, the max. thickness is 100mm. The max. thickness for 09CuPTiRE-B steel usage, ASTM A588 steel plate is 200mm. And the max. thickness for ASTM A242 steel plate is 100mm.
