Q355GNH weathering steel is a kind of atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, which has better corrosion resistance than hot rolled 09CUPCRNI-B, ordinary carbon steel by adding less alloy elements. Q355GNH weathering steel has been widely used in container, railway vehicle, bridge, building and air preheater which need to be resistant to atmospheric corrosion. Q355GNH weathering steel is characterized by the addition of less Cu, P, Cr, Ni and other alloy elements in the steel, so that a dense amorphous spinel type oxide layer with a thickness of about 50-100μm is formed between the rust layer and the base metal, which can prevent oxygen and water from penetrating into the steel matrix, slow down the development of corrosion to steel materials, and improve the atmospheric corrosion resistance.

After the steel plate is produced from the original factory, it will pass through a series of transportation and storage links and then be delivered to the processing workshop. During this period of time, the steel plate surface will contact with the air continuously, which will inevitably produce a layer of oxide skin. The oxide skin is a difficulty in the treatment process. It has high melting point, is not easy to burn and dissolve, increases preheating time, reduces cutting speed. Therefore, the surface of the hot rolled 09CUPCRNI-B plate should be derusted before cutting.
