First, the hardenability of carbon steel is low, and the maximum diameter of water quenching of carbon steel is only 10 mm to 20 mm; second, the strength of carbon steel is only 235 MPa, while that of alloy steel is more than 360 MPa. Third, carbon steel has poor tempering stability. In order to ensure high strength, low tempering is used for carbon steel during quenching and tempering treatment, so the toughness of the carbon steel is insufficient. Fourth, the corrosion resistance, low heat resistance, and wear resistance of carbon steel cannot be compared with alloy steel, 09CuPTiRE-B steel design.
